I was admitted to the hospital via the ED and was brought to the 3rd floor where Karen was floating. I was only in her care for about 15 minutes when she helped the PA make the decision to move me to ICU. This decision was imperative in helping me survive my ordeal. I was given a central line that did not go smoothly and I felt someone squeezing my hand. I knew that my ICU nurse was on the other side of the bed. The person squeezing my hand never said a word that I can remember. I just know it truly helped me get through the pain. I found out later that it was Karen. She came and found me "off-duty" and then I was blessed to have her as my assigned nurse the next day. I told her I loved watching her work. She is so good at what she does and has the heart to match. I am so grateful.
