I call back our stroke patients that are discharged home within 7 days of discharge. The call back covers a multitude of outcomes and follow up and I always give the patient an opportunity to give suggestions to improve care or something that stands out.
Recently, I called a patient who was here for a TIA. At the end of our conversation, the patient said she had a nurse who was fantastic and wanted to be sure she knew that. She told me June Nothelfer was so kind and caring and treated her with respect and she really appreciated that. She also said that June was in the right profession because she was a great nurse! She told me that June made her stay great and did a really nice job with her discharge education. This is so nice to hear because June does give her all to her patients and has done so for 40 years! I thought you should know June is making a difference and gave this patient a really good St. Mary's experience.
