June is truly an extraordinary nurse - although she will tell you she is just doing her job, I know differently - she routinely goes above and beyond.

Even after 34 years as a nurse at Salem Hospital, June is dedicated to continuing education and maintaining clinical skills. She completes training and competencies because she wants the latest knowledge to guide her care, not because they are mandatory. June regularly researches pediatric topics and shares relevant articles with the Peds staff. Her compassionate care is evident in the regular feedback her patients and their families provide. Some of the comments include:

"June was one of the best nurses I've ever had "

"We really appreciated the wonderful care and concern from June especially! Thanks, June!"

"We had excellent care."

"June - awesome job!"

"June was fantastic. What a wonderful person, thanks!"

In addition to providing direct patient care, June is actively involved in committees, such as the Child Abuse Task Force, and the Pediatric Unit Specialty Practice Team. She uses these opportunities to promote continuous improvement for her patients, an example of the exemplary service she provides.

June has a continued committed to excellence - a recent example of this is the time she spent precepting a senior George Fox nursing student in Pediatrics. She loves to precept and enjoys watching the transformation as students are able to make connections between conceptual knowledge and clinical care.
