Julie is a very dedicated and caring nurse, as we all are; however, the care and support she gave to not only a patient who was in the process of losing her unborn child, but her patient's family was above and beyond. Julie listened, provided guidance and supported her patient's decisions. She offered immense support to the prospective grandparents as well, listening to their concerns not only for their unborn grandchild, but for the patient herself. She spent time just letting the patient and her family vent and cry on her shoulder as they went through this difficult time. As nurses, we all give 100% to our patients, but this family obviously touched Julie in such a way that you could tell she was emotionally invested not only in getting the patient through this situation, but her family as well.

A patient that was admitted to the ACU had the potential to be with us the entire pregnancy. The patient had medical complications for which she was taking an enormous number of narcotics. The team made a lofty goal of getting the patient discharged within a week or two. The patient had previously spent two nights at another hospital resulting in her receiving more meds. Julie took this goal on as a challenge and stepped up as one of the primary nurses to take this patient every day, working 40 hours a week. Julie was part of the planning team, set the boundaries, and with help from the other primary nurses and collaboration with the MFM team, was able to get this patient home in a couple of weeks. Julie is passionate about the care she provides for every patient to ensure it is in the best interest of the patient. She never takes the easy way out. She works hard as a patient advocate and puts 100% of her heart and soul into every patient experience.
