I've been here for over 2 weeks now, and in that short period of time, Juliann has shown me the exact kind of care and kindness that a fellow family member would. The day my left leg was amputated from the knee cap down, was the mostheartbreakingthing that has ever happened to me. I almost gave up on life; I went from having two legs and walking to having one leg the next. Juliann inspired me to not give up. She is the thirdperson that has ever made me cry, just from her positive words that I felt came from her own heart. Her inspirational words and talking me to sleep helped with my pain when the medications weren't enough.
There's this rehabilitation deviceand its purpose is to get amputees prepared for a prosthesisthat is about6 to 12 months away. I can tell you that for me, it happens to be one of the most painful devices out there. There were days I did not want to put it on. I would wait for days when Juliann was not my nurse. That did not help! Juliann would still pass by my room and make sure I had it. She cared for me and checked on me just the way a family member would. In my eyes, that is care that goes above and beyond. In short, those are examples of Juliann showing compassionate care. To think when they amputated my leg, I wanted to end it all and now I can't wait until I'm fitted for prosthesis and continue living.
