Julia is an excellent nurse. She is very professional, direct and to the point. Sometimes she even lets her guard down. I think she possesses the necessary skills to teach other nurses as well as advancing to a higher level of nursing. This is a very difficult time for my family and we appreciate her hard work.

Julia is an outstanding nurse. All the staff have been great and deserve recognition but some have been "outstanding". Julia is one of the "OUTSTANDING"!!!!

...

Our daughter was told she had Hodgkin's lymphoma by a doctor who did not take the time to consult with her nurse about family involvement. He could have known her family was rushing there and waited to deliver his news when she had her support system in place. Nurse Julia was great in giving support until we were able to get back to the hospital. Julia worked over her hours. She stayed until she saw we were comfortable and answered our questions. Julia was pregnant at the time she cared for our daughter, so the extra time she took was even more appreciated. She took her time and did not rush when it was time to go home. Her concern for her comfort in dealing with the diagnosis was needed at the time. We are thankful for her faithful call to nursing.

...

Julia was a very compassionate, patient and understanding nurse. She was with my friend everyday and went way beyond what her nursing duties called for. My friend was very scared, upset and overwhelmed because the doctors were not able to give her a lot of information about what was going on in her body. Julia listened to her concerns and had wonderful problem solving skills. She treated my friend and her family like she might treat her own family. I thought that was extraordinary. When the doctor gave her the devastating news of her diagnosis (cancer - Stage 4), Julia was right there. She did not miss a beat. Instead of standing back to give her space, Julia anticipated her need to hear reassurance from the nurse. She was by my friend's side in an instant. She had tears in her eyes as she told my friend, "Hey, it's good that we know what this is because we can fight this". She hugged my friend and her mother and was a true advocate for her patient.

I am not sure how long Julia has been a nurse, but she EXCELS at it. She made a connection with my friend, made her feel important, reassured and taken care of. I am very glad Julia is on the team here at MVH. The world needs more nurses like Julia!
