I delivered my son Via C-Section after 24+ hours of being induced. My plan was to breastfeed H immediately after birth, but there were issues with latching as well as his sugar levels. I was drained physically and emotionally from my birth experience and the health of my baby. I was unable to recognize what I really needed. I was extremely overwhelmed and anxious, but I was not able to communicate it effectively to my husband or the nursing staff.
After several vitals were taken, my blood pressure was very high. Julia was on staff and after trying to verbalize to my husband how I was feeling, Julia recognized what I needed. She looked at my chart and saw that my blood pressure went up significantly when H was back in our room and stayed with us while we tried to latch H for his feedings. Taking the time and effort to make sure I was ok and validating the struggles that we were experiencing as first-time parents, we came up with a feeding plan that worked for all of us.
Later that night my BP went down, and I was more relaxed, and H was getting fed what he needed. I cannot express to you how kind, caring, and attentive Julia was. She was simply exceptional. I don't know where we would be without her. She made my stay and experience amazing at LGH.

I am recognizing Julia for the care and attention she gave my wife and H. She listened to our concerns and went out of her way to help X through an extremely stressful time. Although she was extremely busy, she sat with us for two separate feeding sessions that were an hour long each. Through the entire hour (both times) Julia stayed steady and really helped X. It helped to manage our stress levels as new parents. That night was easily the most difficult we had ever had as new parents. Julia not only helped us through it, but we came out the other side less anxious and better prepared.
