The staff on our unit and I often find Judith assisting with call bells, getting a box of tissues, water, and even alerting a staff when she sees a patient about to get up who is a fall risk. Judith leaves a big impression on her patients with her kindness, compassion and her willingness to go the extra mile. As the Nurse Manager on our unit, I am often confronted by family members complimenting Judith on assisting them with home needs, some personal recommendations and even just a warm touch and just listening to the family.
In the words of one of her patients: "For the past three weeks my father has been on your unit with a terminal illness and the care was phenomenal. But, I would like to give special attention to Judith the Case Manager. She would go the extra mile every day with my sister and me, who were very anxious about my father's condition worsening. Judith was very calm and encouraging us to stay positive and be there for each other during this difficult time. Words alone are not enough, but her knowledge, patience, inspiration and time she took every day to explain everything over and over to us made us get through it. She not only knew her job, she knew the doctor's plan, the medication regime, and she knew the care on everything. We thank her for her patience and time. At times, we know we could have been repetitive in our questions but that did not matter to Judith, she would explain and explain until we got it. She was our angel in disguise and we will never forget her. Nurses like Judith make a difference in the lives of people who have to make difficult decisions. Thank you, Judith, you will always be remembered in our lives."
Judith is dedicated to making every moment matter for this family and she redefines what it means to be a nurse. Even though Judith has not been at the bedside for many years she has the highest standard of quality and service. She is the CULTURE of CARE and a true DAISY Nurse.
