Joyce was a patient’s nurse for only one day. However, Joyce’s impression was lasting and the patient never forgot her. The patient said that it weighed heavy on her heart that she never fully recognized Joyce for the role she played in her recovery from surgery.
Fast forward two years and the patient found herself again facing surgery. Upon transfer to the nursing unit, the patient was welcomed by Joyce. They immediately reconnected and the patient was put at ease knowing she was in familiar and capable hands. Joyce cared for the patient multiple days during her hospitalization.
The patient shared that there was no doubt in her or her family’s mind that Joyce’s professionalism, skill, compassion, and overall dedication to patient care is the reason her recovery went so well. The patient stated that she was grateful to be the recipient of Joyce’s patient advocacy, attention to detail, and follow through.
