What truly sets Josh apart, is the compassion with which he approaches his patients. He expertly addresses not only their physical needs but also takes the time to get to know every one of his patients on a personal level.

When it comes to the quality of nurses, we can be judged by our ability to function within a team, the effort we place into our profession, and the compassion with which we operate. I can wholeheartedly say that Josh Anderson is an exemplar of all these characteristics. He is a consummate team player, always being the first to offer support and willingly taking on difficult tasks to support the department. He is constantly in motion, whether he is assisting patients with their needs, performing vital tasks, or just finding busy work tidying the department. Lastly, and what truly sets Josh apart, is the compassion with which he approaches his patients. He expertly addresses not only their physical needs but also takes the time to get to know every one of his patients on a personal level, a task that is exceptionally difficult in the busy ED.

Josh makes exceptional nursing care a daily practice, but one incident displaying his dedication to the profession and compassion truly shines through. It was approximately 2am-3am when a blind elderly patient was brought in by EMS. She was rightfully scared, unaware of her condition, or her surroundings, but she was lucky enough to have Josh as her nurse. He spent time comforting, reassuring her, and eventually calmed her enough that they were having a deep conversation. When it was time for Josh to go to his break, he requested that the nurse covering him just keep an eye on his other patients so that he could remain at the woman's bedside so she would not be scared in his absence.

Acts like these are the unreported examples of excellence that measure the true character and quality of a nurse. Without question, Joshua Anderson is an amazing example of leadership, courage, clinical strength, and compassion and a driving force towards positivity in the Emergency Department.
