Jo-Jo is an outstanding nurse who exemplifies the I CARE principles (Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence). Not only is she one of the most clinically competent nurses I have had the pleasure to work with; she is one of the most compassionate and respectful team members on our unit. She is always pleasant and greets all her patients, families and co-workers alike with a smile. She provides high quality, genuine patient care with compassion; privacy, dignity and advocacy are foremost in her patient care. Her rapport with patients and families is evident in the positive comments I have personally received from family members when I've taken over after her shift.
Her experience as a nurse is highly valued and she has used this experience and skills in precepting many new nurses to our unit. She is diligent and thorough and observes Capital Health's policies in providing safe and competent care to her patients each and every shift. She is well-respected and admired by her peers, and has demonstrated strong leadership skills when she is charge nurse. Jo-Jo has experience in mental health nursing that is useful in the stressful ICU environment. She uses this experience in interactions with families as they deal with stressful and traumatic situations. She keeps families updated and informed, and her empathetic nature gives family a sounding board during their grieving. She is able to deal with the difficult emotions, such as anger, panic, and sorrow often seen in critical care.
