Jordan has been our favorite nurse; since being in the NICU. During her shifts, we have been made to feel like our son is in the best care possible. We had a minor issue after one of the morning rounds and Jordan immediately returned to talk with us and assure us that our concerns would be addressed. Jordan made every effort to make us comfortable. We are very pleased with her compassion and understanding.
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". There is not a doubt in our minds that Jordan cares for her patients, their families and her position as a nurse. To hear her talk about the endless possibilities of being a nurse and seeing her eyes light up when she is attempting to convince another individual to go into nursing was truly amazing. Even though there were babies with much more extensive needs than our son, Jordan was still very tentative and shared as much knowledge as she could. We hope Jordan never loses her enthusiasm about nursing and continues to treat all parents as well as she treated us. It takes a team to take care of a baby and Jordan made sure we were part of the team. We were offered advice and suggestions from her on several occasions. Any question we had Jordan would answer or find an answer.
We believe that she truly loves the profession and we also believe Jordan is a gift to Dayton Children's. Being in the NICU is stressful enough when you cannot help your baby. Anytime there was an event she would check in to get the details and make sure we understood. For someone we assume is fairly young, Jordan's attitude/personality is light years ahead of nurses we have had to deal with that have been doing this for 10+years. If we could leave her with one suggestion, it would be: never ever lose your enthusiasm and caring ways. You made our experience the best it could be by just listening and being situationally aware. Continue to smile and share your love for nursing. Voice your concerns and opinions to your superiors! Anyone who does not value your opinion does not deserve you as an employee. The doctors and team in the NICU welcome suggestions from the nurses directly caring for the patient. Jordan, you are destined for great things. We hope you stay in peds forever.
