After being admitted to MWH and spending a couple of days on one floor, my hospitalist felt it would be a good idea to have another set of eyes evaluate me. He called in John from MSET. It took John about five minutes to determine I needed to be transferred to the MICU. He saw to this transfer personally and efficiently.
Having never been in the ICU, the idea scared me. John was able to recognize that and saw to it that I understood this move was only precautionary and preparation for further tests. He stayed with the team who moved me and settled me into the room. Then, he stayed and chatted until I could relax.
John is extremely knowledgeable in all medical situations. He is able to explain things so laymen can understand. But more than that, it is very obvious that he cares for the patient. During the five days staying in the MICU, John stopped by to "check on me" many times. He has the ability to connect with the patient and family members with compassion, caring, and professionalism. I spent 14 days total in the hospital and then after a brief stay at the Rehab facility, it was necessary for me to return to the hospital for another length of time. John found me there and continued to monitor and encourage me.
