I have watched Joelle consistently provide outstanding care to her patients and she maintains a standard of excellence. Joelle's caring spirit, willingness to jump through whatever hoops necessary to advocate for her patients, initiative, integrity and professionalism are unsurpassed. She is a role model for staff and they seek her council daily. Her enthusiasm is contagious.
Let me give you a glimpse into Joelle's heart and skills from one of her patient's perspectives shared with me recently. "I was so scared when I came to TRH with a diagnosis of lung cancer. Joelle knelt down beside me, held my hand and told me she would be there to help me through. She listened attentively to my fears and concerns and then she helped to coordinate my care and appointments. When I didn't understand what the doctor was saying she translated it into words I could understand and gave me printouts to take home. When I would break down crying she would encourage me and give me hope. Every time I called her she never made me feel like she didn't have time for me. Quite the opposite, she made me feel like I was the only patient she had to care for. Her encouragement strengthened me. When I had difficulty getting my medications from the pharmacy she talked with the doctor, called my insurance company and got the approval I needed. Every time I see her she has a warm, caring smile. We need more compassionate nurses like Joelle who truly care about making a difference. It's not just a job to her, it's a calling. You can tell! She also helped me with my nutrition because I had lost a lot of weight and now I'm in the new survivorship program at her prompting. Joelle's made a big difference in my life."
