Our precious sister was brought to Houston Northwest. She was struggling to breathe and had massive fluid surrounding her heart and lungs. She had double pneumonia and suffered a heart attack. Once EMS reached us and began trying to assist her with breathing and CPR, our sister lost her breathing and heart function for a total of 51 minutes. We had no idea what was happening until well after we arrived at the hospital.
ER doctors and nurses worked on her for hours and put her in MICU. We waited while our sister was placed on a respirator, while doctors and nurses ran tests, administered medications and tried to comfort our sister and our family.
A few days later, Joe came to work. He was our nurse. Joe soon realized that all of us needed help just like our sister did. We could talk to Joe and tell him all about our sister. He listened to our hearts, wiped away tears and laughed at our crazy memories of the happy life-loving, wonderful, kind, generous, selfless sister we loved. Joe was able to help us transition with the realization that our sister was more critical than we ever imagined. Joe helped us to fully understand this horrible nightmare we had been in for days.
Without Joe's calming, comforting care for all of us, and our sister, we could not accept what was inevitable. The greatest gift we could give our sister, peace and rest. We will forever be thankful and grateful for Joe's kind, loving, tender-hearted care for our sister and for all of us. God bless you, Joe.
