Our beautiful baby girl was born in August. She was perfect and labor was quick and went smoothly. However, within minutes of having my daughter, I started having complications and was in a lot of pain. We thought the worst was behind us after leaving Labor & Birth until later that night. Twelve hours after having our baby girl I began to have severe hemorrhaging. It was painful, scary, and a moment I wish for no one! Our nurse, Jodi, was there by my side as doctors rushed in to help me. She made sure my husband and daughter were okay during the traumatic experience.
I ended up having to have multiple blood transfusions that night and Jodi was very attentive through every step. She even supported me with my decision to continue trying to breastfeed my baby girl, even though I was bedridden and in a lot of pain. She checked on me constantly that night, making sure I was as comfortable as possible. Jodi also took the time to explain to us everything that was happening, helping to settle our nerves. A day that should be joyful bringing our daughter into the world turned into my worst nightmare. Nurse Jodi, however, did everything she could to help turn my worst day around. She was so attentive, caring, supportive, and all around just awesome!
I'm so thankful I had Jodi as my nurse that night. I don't know how things would have turned out had she not listened to us when we thought something was wrong and had she not "held our hands" through every step that night.
