Jodi went above and beyond caring for my wife/our mother during her 10-day hospital stay. Due to COVID-19, I nor my family could be present in her care leaving a major gap in communication. Jodi went out of her way to make sure the family was communicated with any updates or concerns. She was the first nurse to call us after my wife/our mother was in the hospital for 6 days.
Jodi, working during the weekend, had excellent communication with the family and demonstrated care and compassion. My wife/our mother is nonverbal at her baseline and Jodi was able to set up multiple FaceTime conversations with the family over the weekend. This allowed the family to communicate with her since we could not be present. My wife/our mother loves to be outside and bask in the sun. Jodi took her outside to enjoy some sunshine one afternoon.
Jodi also went out of her way requesting multiple pictures to create a slideshow presentation that could run on the tablet in her room with family photos. Jodi demonstrated excellent patient/family rapport during this crisis which helped ease the family's concerns and peace of mind. Our family cannot adequately express my gratitude for Jodi during some of the most difficult days that our family has gone through. Our family feels that she embodies the DAISY Award and we can never thank her enough for her outstanding bedside manner, rapport, communication, and compassion.
