I was involved in an accident where a driver had hit me at a crosswalk and shattered my tib/fib. I was placed in the care of Joanna. This was one of the most horrible experiences I have ever gone through, but having Joanna take care of me truly helped in making a terrible experience into something that I knew I could move past. Joanna was always so attentive and caring, she made sure that I was taken care of in the appropriate manner no matter how busy she was. For example, I had an influx of student nurses, as well as the hospital's financial officer and doctors all in the room at once. I became extremely overwhelmed and started having a panic attack of which I haven't had in years. Joanna came in and asked everyone nicely if they could please return separately later, and she sat with me and talked me through my current state. She then hugged me until I was calm, as the panic attack was causing great pain to the rest of my injuries. This was only one of the many great things she did while I was staying in the hospital. So, I just wanted to say thank you for making my recovery the best it could be and making a horrible experience more bearable.

Here are a few things Joanna's colleagues had to say about her:
Joanna is a great nurse. She is caring, compassionate, not only with her patients but with her co-workers and everyone she comes in contact with. She has a strong belief in God and the goodness of people. Joanna will go out of her way to provide what the patient needs, and she is willing to spend time talking to the patients and listening to their stories, making each one feel special and cared for.
Joanna is a wonderful team member. She always has a bright smile and tries to brighten the day with her sense of humor. Joanna goes the extra mile to help out her team as a preceptor, SCRN, and skills validator. We are also very proud that she represents us as our Magnet Ambassador. She is also our superstar in IV starts and always willing to help her co-workers even if she is busy.
I would like to thank Joanna for all her hard work and dedication to LAC+USC. Not only is she an excellent nurse, but she is a loving daughter, mother, and wife. She represents our unit in such a positive way, and we appreciate everything she does. Thank you, Joanna.
