Joanna, since the beginning of her career at Beaumont, showed great potential and expectations. She bravely took the most difficult and challenging patients and got all the extra training necessary to accomplish the task. Not only does she show how competent and compassionate she is with her patients, but she has also taken the initiative to change the culture of her unit by implementing research-based interventions to decrease pressure ulcers and length of stay in our patients. Words alone are not enough to explain all she has done. Her knowledge in this field of nursing and research are a great addition to our unit. We are very lucky to have her on our staff.
Joanna is a very smart and compassionate nurse. The best quality that she has is that she uses evidence-based practice and research to generate better outcomes for her patients. As a new nurse on our unit, she has implemented the turning/rounding teams, which will decrease the incidence of acquired unit/hospital ulcers. After 4 months of implementation, the unit has zero ulcers, great compliance, and had made the other nurses happier.
Joanna has recognized a hospital-wide problem and implemented a project that will improve patient outcome.
She also is an active member of our unit PNC and is working on a project to develop a study/poster for 2017 Nursing Week.
It's very honorable to recognize nurses that change outcomes with evidence-based projects.
