I have postpartum psychosis. It's been the hardest and scariest thing I've ever gone through. I've been through so much I can hardly describe the torture I've experienced through all of this. I first went to the mother-baby unit with my son for 2 weeks. Then I returned home where things got worse. I then returned to this unit a week later, where I came across one of the most caring, beautiful souls I've ever met. My nurse, Joan! I was so scared and never felt so alone. First coming here, I felt helpless and terrified. She made me feel so comforted and gave me hope that I was where I needed to be. Her words and all her kindness meant the world to me. To have such an amazing, inspiring person to work with so far from home has been a blessing. She has pushed me to do better and give myself credit for my progress and healing. She has gone above and beyond her job as a nurse to make me feel better and help me heal faster. I am blessed to know her.
