Jill cared for a patient throughout his extended illness while he was an out-patient receiving care in the Oncology Clinic. Through his many visits for chemotherapy and blood transfusions, Jill shared stories with him about her life. These stories included camping trips with her sons and other events in her day-to-day family life. The patient also shared stories about his life and his friends in the local community with Jill. When it became apparent that his disease was progressing and becoming difficult to manage, he chose to cease further treatment. He then became an inpatient for his end of life care. Jill visited him often, dropping in to see him during her lunch break or after her shift, to let him know she was still there with him in his final days.
