Our 16-year-old son was recovering from bilateral pleurodesis surgery which involved significant pain and restrictions like chest tubes, connected to suction, etc. Jess provided outstanding overnight care on two consecutive nights shortly after surgery. She provided thoughtful guidance on care and recovery. She helped keep his spirits up, ensured he was making progress in recovery from drinking liquids, eating as well as progressing on other bodily functions. She was energetic and efficient in her care with an appropriate sense of humor. We wish Jess well and believe that any patient who gets Jess as their nurse is very lucky!

Jess made a special connection with us and our son during our stay with her sense of humor and professional care and knowledge. When there was joke-telling to lighten the mood, Jess provided a bit of humor as well. Jess was knowledgeable about the recovery process and how to help our son be as comfortable as possible. Our son is inquisitive, and Jess would explain medicines and procedures such as suppositories, enemas to help him understand these items and what to expect. Jess connected with our entire family. She shared a bit about herself and her upcoming wedding in August was the same time of year as when we, the parents, were married. We greatly appreciated the company and care from Jess during those late evenings and early mornings as he was recovering from surgery.

As part of his post-surgery recovery, our son had difficulty passing bowels. Jess provided caring and effective guidance on steps to address passing bowels. Starting with drinking water, eating foods, and what types of food to eat. Eventually, this led to taking suppositories and finally requiring an enema. Suppositories and enema were firsts for our son. She helped us and especially him through each step which led to thankful relief and smiles all around!
