Concerned about the welfare, not only of our Veteran but also of his dog, Jessica went above and beyond by going personally to the shelter to check on the Veteran's dog.
Jessica took care of a Veteran who lives alone in an apartment. This Veteran has a dog who was placed temporarily in a shelter while he was hospitalized. Unfortunately, this Veteran has to go to a short-term rehab prior to going home, pending his rehab progress. This Veteran had been worried about losing his dog since the shelter will only keep it for 30 days. Concerned about the welfare, not only of our Veteran but also of his dog, Jessica went above and beyond by going personally to the shelter to check on the Veteran's dog.
Her plan was to aid the shelter in re-homing the dog instead of them giving it up for adoption. In this way, the Veteran will have a chance of having the dog back should he be discharged home. This writer personally admires her dedication to caring for her fellow Veterans even outside the hospital setting.
As the famous Mahatma Gandhi said:
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
