We had a difficult patient in our unit recently. Jessica went above and beyond to care for him as a critically ill patient, but also to befriend and care for his wife. The patient was over 500 lbs, was bedridden, had a trach, was on a ventilator, and mostly unresponsive most of the time. His wife, while very friendly, was pleasantly overbearing, and very demanding.
Jessica took care of him and even researched information for him and his wife so that he could receive more intensive care outside of JW.
After working her second job, Jessica decided to come late one night just so that she could sit with the patient's wife to show her support. This patient was eventually made a DNR, when he passed, Jessica came up to the hospital to be with the wife and provide her support. Jessica is very much her patients' advocate and does so much in support of everyone she provides care to. She works 2 full-time jobs and is very thorough at both. Jessica is a great support person to have on our team in the ICU.
Thank you, Jessica Bryant, for providing your presence. Not only did you care for your patient, but you also provided compassion and support for his wife during this difficult time in her life. I am sure she will always feel grateful for your support.
