I had an emergent C-section at RCRH. I had the kindest, most knowledgeable nurse named Jenny. She watched my baby's monitor like a hawk and was quick to assess that my baby was not tolerating labor. When it was determined that I needed a C-section, Jenny was so fast getting me ready for surgery. She got my IV in one stick; she worked with lab so that I didn't have to get poked multiple times. She put up with me squeezing her hand so hard when my foley was put in. Jenny was always explaining everything to me and making sure that I was aware of what was going on and what she was doing to help me and my baby girl. She was so nice to me and treated me with respect and compassion.
There was an OR circulating nurse, I don't remember her name because everything was happening so fast but she was wonderful too!! She kept asking Jenny if she needed anything and how she could help. I really liked knowing that those two nurses were working so close together and that they were making sure that my baby and I were getting the quickest, best care possible. I noticed a lot of excellent teamwork and communication between my nurses. There were also several other nurses that came in and out and I know that they all told me their names but with everything that was going on I don't remember them. I do remember that everyone was very nice to me and waited patiently to see if they could help out or if anything was needed. Everyone was all hands on deck and so quick to give compassionate care. Everyone was very professional and clearly knew what they were doing and wanted to help in any way.
I just can't describe a mother's fear when she knows her baby is in distress and it's out of her hands. I remember lying on the operating table and feeling so terrified. I couldn't even cry or say a prayer in my head for my baby, I was in shock. I have never known fear and heartache like that before. I can't thank Jenny, my OR nurse, or the doctor enough for the care I received and the way they made me feel. I want to say thank you to the Labor and Delivery staff for everything! I was able to thank the doctor in the OB clinic but I want to also show appreciation to Jenny, the OR circulating nurse and all the Labor and Delivery nurses. THANK YOU for your knowledge, your compassion, your kindness, your skills, your teamwork. You made all the difference! You gave a scared mother hope. You gave an unborn baby girl in distress your skills and knowledge to help her come into this world. You made a difference that will last a lifetime. Please know that somewhere in this world is a mother who will never forget the wonderful care you gave and thanks God for you being her nurse. THANK YOU!!
