I came into Labor and Delivery at 34 weeks pregnant with my 5th large hemorrhage. Jenny Posthumus was my nurse in triage. Dr. A decided we were going to deliver that day and Jenny took care of me until my c-section and got me all prepped. She was friendly, kept me informed of what was going on, and kept me calm during a scary situation. She was with me through my C-section and into the recovery room.
The C-section had gone smoothly with no complications. However, in recovery Jenny still continued to closely monitor and thoroughly assess me and noticed when something was not right. She promptly informed the doctor and I was taken back to surgery because of her assessment and call. After that surgery, I don't remember much because I woke up in terrible pain. It's all a blur.
But, I was still monitored, it was discovered that the surgery was not successful, and I was taken back to surgery again. I ended up with an emergency hysterectomy, a massive blood transfusion and in ICU on a ventilator. But I am alive today because Jenny paid close attention to her patient and acted fast when she needed to. She stayed with me for hours with no breaks, probably no food or drink, I don't know if she even got bathroom breaks. But I will forever be thankful that she was there, and I am here to be a mother to my baby because of it.
