Jenny Jacobs was a night nurse for my wife, R, during her stay at the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center. My wife fell and injured the back of her head. We spent 5 days at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center receiving treatment for her injury, before being transferred to Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center.
Over the course of her stay at the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center, my wife experienced several issues with her bowels, bladder, and kidneys. My wife had an issue with her bowels and was in a lot of pain. Ms. Jacobs was so kind and helpful. She worked with her for over four hours during the night to help her achieve a BM. R had another problem with her bladder and kidneys during the night. Ms. Jacobs was on duty and assisted my wife again for more than four hours to help empty her bladder. While this may seem like a small thing, it is not. My wife suffers from ALS and suddenly experienced a rapid deterioration in her abilities after the fall. The problems she experienced with the bowels and bladder were new, extremely painful, and very scary for both my wife and me.
I spent 2 years in the medical field and know what great actions this lady took to alleviate my wife's pain and suffering. I completed two tours of duty in Korea in 1950 and 1954 and would have loved to have seen combat medics and nurses with the same concern and compassion that Ms. Jacobs displayed for my wife. I have no doubt that if Ms. Jacobs had served in the military, she would have left the service as a Lieutenant Colonel.
