My mother was a patient in Hospice (3GM) when visitors first started to be not allowed. I had been with her during her entire stay but then the rule went into effect that visitors could not stay unless the patient was close to dying. Jenny came to the room to let me know about the new rule. She was so nice and caring and professional as she explained the new rules. I was heartbroken but I understood and asked for a few more minutes. Jenny agreed and said she would be back. She came back in about 15 minutes and I could tell she had been a little teary even though I couldn't see her face. Jenny told me I would be allowed to stay. She said I would have to stay in the room and others could not come but I would be allowed to stay. She didn't tell me she went to bat for me but another nurse told me Jenny went and made calls and got approval for me. I stayed for the next two days until we took Mom home for the short time she was there. When I stayed, I helped feed her and she kept telling me she loved me. I would have missed those last "I love yous" if Jenny would not have fought for me to stay. She is very compassionate and you can tell she really thinks about how patients and families feel in the end. I am so thankful for her and the time she allowed me.
