Our family is so impressed with Jennifer, dad's nurse, during my father's pre-op stay. We found her to be kind, bubbly, confident and respectful. She helped all of us stay comfortable physically and emotionally while we prepared for dad's surgery. In our situation, the neurosurgeon scheduled dad's surgery at 10:30 pm the night prior. Dad arrived at 9 am for surgery pre-op. At this time, we didn't know the type of surgery, how it's performed, how long it takes, expected outcomes, recovery time, length of hospitalization stay, etc. Jennifer made us comfortable and listened to our concerns and questions and then either answered them, researched them or gave us further information to keep us informed, and she made sure dad was as comfortable and at ease as possible.

Jennifer is personable, intelligent, thorough and organized. She alerted the cardiologist's assistant to a discrepancy in medication dosage between what we thought and what the cardiologist records showed. When the cardiologist assistant confirmed the dosage she had in the records, Jennifer offered to call the pharmacy to get the exact prescription information. Her interaction with all of the doctors was professional and respectful. She was able to communicate our concerns to the doctors as a medically trained caregiver.

Jennifer had many responsibilities to juggle and tasks to perform, but somehow she was able to do them with speed. She helped at least five other nurses with tasks, questions or instructions. Each time they asked for help, she would gently answer or kindly excuse herself. Her colleagues seem to respect her and value her opinions.

We never saw her as stressed, "too busy", angry, short, slow to respond, disrespectful, tired, etc. That's a big deal! She has an attitude to serve others and you can tell she loves her profession. We felt like we were her one and only patient.
