Jennifer was a kind and caring person who went above and beyond her expected nursing duties during my stay at your hospital. She had me in her care for two days during which I had many ups and downs. The first day that she was my nurse, I thought I was finally going to get to go home. I was excited but nervous and not sure I was quite ready, even though I wanted more than anything to just go home. I was supposed to be in New York, visiting my older sister and nephews that I hadn't seen in 10 years, but I ended up spending my much needed vacation in the hospital. Jennifer reassured me that it was going to be okay and if I felt like I needed another day, I should stay.
I am glad that I did stay because the next 24 hours were pretty rough. Jennifer had me again the next day and I was very sick. I spent most of the day very dizzy, fighting nausea, vomiting, and a migraine. Jennifer was surprised at how sick I was compared to the day before and she stayed right by my side as she began to look into what might be causing my symptoms. She looked up medications I had newly started and found that I was showing many side effects from a couple of the medications and she reassured me that she would talk to my doctors and see what they thought.
After researching and speaking with the doctors, they found out that I wasn't doing well from the medication combination. I was very depressed and upset that I went from thinking I was going home the day before, to now feeling worse than I had in almost the entire time I had been in the hospital. Jennifer was very compassionate. She did what she could to get to the bottom of it. She also picked up on how depressed I had become during my stay. I could tell that she genuinely cared about me as a person and I felt comfortable with her. She helped get my medications fixed and I got out of my depression and was happily discharged the next day. She took the time to get to know me a little bit and really helped me through one of the worst couple of days of the worst vacation ever. Jennifer definitely gave it her all!
