She saw things that most people would never see in their lifetime. But she adapted and flourished. Although the redeployment was jolting, her empathy and strength did not waiver.
Jenna has been the sole nurse at the Lenox Hill Breast Center for 2+ years. In late 2018 both of the breast surgeons left, leaving Jenna with the entire practice to keep afloat. She took on the role of clinical coordinator, as the manager, and several staff members also left as well. While 4-5 different surgeons were in and out covering the practice Jenna managed to keep all the patients' care plans straight. On top of that, she was still able to deliver the highest quality of patient care. The patients in the practice feel comfortable coming to the clinic and leaving knowing their next steps. This is because Jenna spends time with each patient as if they were her family member.
When COVID-19 hit, Jenna readily volunteered to be redeployed. She was redeployed to Forest Hills, which at that time was the epicenter of epicenters. Before this year Jenna had no experience in the inpatient setting, let alone the ER. She saw things that most people would never see in their lifetime. But she adapted and flourished. She had her hand in several life-saving events. Although the redeployment was jolting, her empathy and strength did not waiver.
Since being back from Forest Hills she continues to put the patients first. My colleagues and I have been beyond impressed with her persistence, determination, her poise, and her professionalism. All four surgeons in my practice will agree that Jenna is a true DAISY Nurse.
