Jeff Reid who was my mother's recovery room nurse on Saturday, December 13. My mother went into surgery at around 8:30p and the surgeon called me at 10:15p to apprise me of the successful surgery. I never expected to hear another word from the hospital that night. Keep in mind that I was very emotional and upset because I had left my 93 year old mother at the OR/holding room door with the look of terror and insecurity on her face which was imbedded in my mind. Realistically, not knowing that I would ever see or hear from her again alive.

At midnight the phone rang at my house and it was Jeff who introduces himself to me and proceeded to inform me that he was with my mother and she was doing well and that he had given her some pain medicine. He asked if I wanted to talk with her. My mother came on the line and sounded wonderful and talked to me briefly and I was able to tell her I loved her. Jeff talked some more to me and apprised me that she would be going back to her room shortly if I wanted to come and hug and kiss her. I told him just to tell her I would see her in the morning. I thanked him and told him God Bless and that he would never know what that call had meant to me.

I want Jeff and his supervisor(s) to know what a dynamic, energetic, upbeat personality he demonstrated to me in both a professional and personal manner; and, what comfort that one phone call provided me. He is an asset to your department and went above and beyond the call of duty in fulfilling his job expectation. He is a compassionate, caring nurse with a wonderful bedside manner. He is an exemplary example of what the definition Nurse implies.

Please thank Jeff again for me for all his care and consideration.
