My dad was under court order to live with my brother (to honor my dad's wishes) even though I was assigned as his guardian. The court order prevented me as his guardian from permanently moving him without approval from the court. On Wednesday, my sister-in-law who was caring for my father and my brother (who has MS) committed suicide. So, I have been trying to place my dad in assisted living, but he developed pressure sores from 24/7 sitting and sleeping in a recliner at my brother's house.
Jeannie tried getting him placed in skilled nursing care, but I was told by that facility that he was out of network and his insurance may not pay. Then Jeannie tried a rehab facility in another city. However, they refused to take him because of the court order and would not accept the email from my attorney that stated the judge had given verbal approval to move my father. So, Jeannie recommended that I contact my dad's insurance. After talking with the insurance company, I was told about a facility that was in-network and even if they are out of network the benefits were the same. I was told that the doctor could call the insurance company and request urgent pre-authorization and I relayed this information to Jeannie.
I called Extendicare and they told me they would have to do it. Well, Jeannie on her own reached out to the insurance company and had them call her and me to start their "white glove" service to expedite the pre-authorization. Unfortunately, the insurance company gave Extendicare the run around all day long on Friday claiming they hadn't received the paperwork, changing the email for submission 3 times. Jeannie was concerned and reached back out to the white glove representative and asked if there was anything she could do to expedite the process even faster. So, the insurance rep took additional steps to expedite.
Jeannie had to spend a significant amount of time last week trying to help me get my dad placed into a skilled nursing facility. Her level of compassion and empathy for my family's situation and all the phone calls, emails, etc. to help with this matter exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond in my opinion. I want to take the time to let you know what an exceptional employee you have in Jeannie. She is very sweet, compassionate, and caring. I will never forget how she helped my father and me during this difficult time. You have an awesome employee working for you and I wanted you to know it.
