During the night, patients may not always be as awake as during the day. However, Jean seems to know what each patient needs and is there to help in any way. Whether assisting to the bathroom or giving a medication, she stays with the patient and will talk about anything he or she would like to discuss. She gets to know the patients so that if any are having an anxious moment, she is there to help the patient overcome that anxiety. Although some nights may be extremely busy, Jean is always there and slows down to the patient's speed, never saying that she needs to leave the room or has other work to do.
One particular example is of a patient who was dying and had no family to be there with him during this final phase of his life. However, Jean was there for him, talking with him, holding his hand and rubbing his head, telling him that he was not alone and all was okay. Throughout the chaos of the night she was there with him and held his hand as he left this world.
Because of Jean's dedication to her work and her patients, there have been instances where patients told her certain things that they had not told anyone else in the time they had been patients here, a sign that patients trust her wholeheartedly.
The level of care that Jean consistently delivers, along with the level of teamwork that she puts in to every shift that she works, makes it an honor to work withher.
