Jayne was compassionate, respectful, and mindful towards me, as well as my mother and young child who were with me. She used humor to keep me my spirits up, but straight talk when I asked for clarifying details. She used persistent mindfulness to keep me strong when I couldn't take more but expressed deep empathy and active listening when I started feeling hopeless. She was attentive but honest. Encouraging when I advocated for myself, educated me so I could improve self-care, persistent in assessing safety and responsiveness to respect my dignity. Made me feel like the most important person in the room so I continued to feel I was in charge of my care, not just a bystander that doctors were directing. She didn't let frustrations, fatigue or other negatives interfere even when there were times it would have only been human. She took detailed notes about my self-reporting and shared them with doctors and professionals with respect, specific compliments and examples in addition to debriefing after doctors' visits to be sure I understood and didn't have any leftover questions as you often do once you have had time to digest and process their info after they have left. She was respectful and an excellent role model for the nursing assistants and other team members working with her. She was thorough as shift exchanges. I could go on... Jayne is a huge asset to your hospital and though you had several other members on my team who were excellent she stood head and shoulders above the others in every way from my perspective as the patient and a customer.
