… Dad’s condition had become quite complex as they were trying to coordinate three different procedures while he was in surgery. Jay Bishop kept us well informed and updated throughout the day as surgery didn’t happen until that evening. During the day I watched as Jay scrubbed my dad’s dentures and also helped the PCA bathe him. While I waited for him to come out of surgery, I was kept posted and also checked on to see if I needed anything. Jay was a great help and comfort on such a long day.
Since that day when Jay has been on the floor, we have been checked in on even though not officially part of his assignment even doing little things for him like providing a boost helping to clean up dad’s wound. Today the doctors removed my father’s central line and left the bloody tape there – Jay was in dad’s room to say goodbye and noticed this and stopped and cleaned it up – I was amazed that it didn’t even look like there had been a central line there when he was all cleaned up – He even got one last boost from our special RN – It always made Dad’s day to chat with him.
