Janine Hair was nominated for her positive and influential role in the Emergency Department (ED). Her contributions to the department have greatly impacted patient care and teamwork, illustrating her passion and dedication to the nursing profession.

Noticing that a new staff nurse was having difficulties adjusting to her position, Janine reached out to the ED unit director and asked if she could help. She volunteered to assist in any way that she could to support the new nurse who was experiencing many of the same struggles that she had once encountered.

In addition to mentoring co-workers, Janine has become actively involved with the ED, participating in the department’s Professional Practice meetings, unit director staff meetings, interdisplinary team, and root cause analysis while seeking ED participation. Ms. Hair consistently volunteers to partake in system, hospital, and unit-driven initiatives and approaches change with a positive attitude. Her dedication and contributions to physicians and staff, specifically through coordinating the ED’s monthly case studies, help to improve physician and nurse collaboration and ultimately quality patient care. Janine is in the process of obtaining continuing education credits for the case studies and plans to extend them to ancillary staff and nursing students.

Overall, Janine Hair’s exceptional patient care and passion for the nursing profession makes her well-deserving of the DAISY Award.
