I was working on the 6th floor auditing charts when a bed alarm went off near where I was. By the time I reached the room, nurse Janice was getting there as well. The patient had been loud and making a huge fuss for the past 45 minutes that I had been on the floor. The patient was attempting to get out of bed and Janice and I talked to him and got him re-situated. We went back out of the room, less than a minute later, the alarm went off again. We entered the room to find the patient gleefully dancing and loudly singing the beat to the music. He was really into what he was doing. Janice took him by the hand and requested a wheelchair. She then began to just dance with the patient, while she waited on the wheelchair, and you could see his face light up. The two of them danced like no one was watching, and he just grinned from ear to ear! When his wheelchair arrived, we assisted him into the chair. Janice sat him next to her work station to keep a close eye on him. It was such a treat to watch a nurse interact so lovingly with a patient who most would consider a nuisance. Extraordinary caring Janice! Proud to have you on our team!
