Jamie started on 4S as a new grad and has grown into a wonderful skilled nurse; she is very well liked and respected by all staff because of her excellent interpersonal skills. She is approachable, treats everyone with respect, and is very considerate and attentive as a charge RN. Jamie is one of the kindest, most caring, and compassionate nurses that I have ever had the chance to work with. Even when dealing large patient loads, she is still able to pay attention to a patient's individual needs.
Jamie responds to all demands with a positive "I can try" attitude. She is supportive, non-judgmental, easy to approach, and always willing to help. These traits make her a great role model for her peers.
She is sensitive and shows great empathy for our patients. She will go out of her way to make patients and families comfortable and will advocate for their needs. Jamie is nurturing, a great listener, and a wonderful educator when it comes to discharge teaching.
One day when Jaime had four patients to discharge, one of her patients struggled with pain and nausea, and difficulties in coping. Jamie spent a great deal of time that morning with the patient, while still taking great care of the others. Before being discharged, the patient came out to find Jamie and gave her a hug and thanked her for helping her to feel well enough to be discharged.
Jamie is frequently in charge on 4SE and she does an outstanding job communicating with the RNs, providers, and different care areas. I know we are in good hands when Jamie is in charge. She is the first to volunteer an extra hand and a great resource for questions. Jamie is an exceptional nurse and someone who truly leads by example.
With her humility, empathy, positive energy, and strong interpersonal skills, Jamie exemplifies the traits of a DAISY Nurse.
