Jackie exemplifies what it means to be a DAISY nurse. She also exhibits Children's values and guiding behaviors. Demonstrating our value of Purpose, Jackie consistently provides timely, detailed and excellent care to patients and families, along with kindness in her approach. She is an effective collaborator. On numerous occasions when Jackie has identified a patient experiencing a health status change, she has promptly helped manage the situation while mentoring those involved. Jackie advocates for patients on the night shift when resources available are sometimes limited. She is tenacious and recognizes patients who may need to transfer to a higher level of care. She exhibits integrity by having a curious attitude and the willingness to teach others. She consistently applies evidence-based practice to the care she provides.
In her role as unit orientation coordinator, Jackie has been working to develop a staged orientation process for care partners so they can have an improved on boarding experience and ultimately provide the best and safest care to our patients and families. Exemplifying our value of Health, Jackie role models self-care and work-life balance.
Jackie is thorough and dependable. She is confident and an expert resource. Jackie holds herself to high standards and expects others to do the same. She is always willing to take on challenges, improve her practice and accept feedback.
Jackie wears many hats at Children's. She is a charge nurse, unit orientation coordinator, three-time REACH recipient, co-chair for the hospital-wide Nursing Professional Development Council and an active member of the Children's Pediatric Nursing Conference Planning Committee. Anyone can "do" all of these things, but what sets Jackie apart from the rest and makes her worthy of this award is that she does ALL of these things with excellence.
