My mother, in extreme pain, was treated with kindness, compassion and professionalism like I have never witnessed. Iulia contacted doctors to seek a revised pain protocol, kept us informed, and comforted my mother. She strengthened my faith in God by her care.
My mother was sent via ambulance from OSF Holy Family Monmouth to Peoria. She was placed on 4 Surg and after testing it was determined her care would require radiation rather than surgery. All the nurses while in 4 Surg were wonderful. But Iulia, seeing the pain my mother was in, was extraordinarily attentive. She contacted doctors when my mother's pain was registering a ten with no easing. She spoke with us and kept us informed of my mother's condition and went above and beyond in her compassion and efforts. She stopped in after her shifts to show Mom pictures of her family and took an active interest in my mother as a person.
My mother is a two-time cancer survivor already. We know the drill, have experienced care and have reasonable expectations of medical attention and protocol. Iulia exceeded every label of care, concern, professionalism, and defined extraordinary health care. Now, when we face my mother fighting cancer for the third time and try to help her prepare and not get depressed, we were sent one of God's special angels to help us. I do not use this term lightly but with the most sincere and meaningful definition possible. I cannot imagine anyone more deserving of special attention or a DAISY Award.
