I am writing to convey my utmost appreciation for the care that your medical staff provided to my father while he was in their care. My father spent four weeks hospitalized at McAllen Medical Center when he passed away. In that time, he suffered from no small number of things and was in and out of the ICU. While my father's health wavered the care that he was given never did. The nurses who treated my father were unwaveringly kind, continuously compassionate, and regularly attentive.
In particular, I wish to commend these nurses: Dulce (5th floor), Isaac (ICU). They embodied the spirit of compassion, all while providing impeccable care to my father. Their care went beyond treating just my father; they demonstrated thoughtful consideration for all of my family members, including myself. I was in the room when Dulce called the rapid response team after my father's breathing failed. In the middle of the urgent chaos, I saw her take the time to comfort my mother, whose limited English left her all the more worried as an army of medical professionals tended to her husband. When we made the DNR decision, Dulce embraced my sobbing sister. She didn't have to do any of those things; that she did them without needing to, speaks to her character.
Isaac treated my family members with the utmost respect. He taught us how to care for our father. Toward my father, he was exceedingly kind and gentle. No one turned my father as well as Isaac did. Even when my father returned to the ICU and was not in Isaac's care, Isaac checked on him regularly. Hisattentiveness and competence always put us at ease.
You should feel very proud to have these nurses working for you. Your hospital is a better place with them in it; they are true heroes within their profession.
