My husband was at Jefferson Health New Jersey Cherry Hill Hospital for 3 days. He started out on a medical unit but was sadly upgraded to the ICU. I cannot recommend one nurse for your DAISY Award. The care that my husband received at Jefferson Health Cherry Hill from each and every person involved was beyond anything I could have hoped for in a hospital setting. I mentioned that I was not going home and I wanted to be there with him to the end, the nurses quickly acquired a recliner, a blanket, and a pillow. They asked me to choose from a menu and said I had to eat. They brought me tea, soda, and a beautiful meal on a tray. An orchid lay on the plate. I will always have that orchid, which will remind me of the kindness I experienced during this difficult time.
When my husband's time was growing short, they moved him to the room next door with the windows to accommodate the members of the family surrounding him. Dr. Gus and the nurses tried desperately to get FaceTime working on the computer so that his son in Florida and his daughter in Tennessee could see him and he could see them. When this was not possible, they did not give up, they were able to have them conference call in and my husband was able to hear their voices with the rest of the family surrounding him in person. This thoughtfulness meant so very much to us.
There are no words to describe how you feel when you learn that a loved one is passing; I would not have wanted my husband anywhere else but right there in the Cherry Hill ICU supported by the compassionate care team. They are truly extraordinary doctors and selfless nurses/staff. My pain is too great to bear, but my memories of my husband's stay in the Intensive Care Unit at Cherry Hill are warm and enduring. Thank you all very much for everything you did for me, my family, and my husband during a difficult time.
