It's difficult to put into words each and every specific act that Nurse Leo performed for which recognition is deserved. However, it does suffice to say that his very essence demonstrates (screams), CARE! From his upright physical demeanor to his sparkling smile to his mild mannered interactions with the patient and family/visitors. Upon every interaction with the patient he took the time to answer questions and before departing the room, he would ask the patient and family member if they needed anything. And if a specific thing wasn't readily available (as in maybe not assigned/allocated for said patient), he would go above and beyond to acquire the item for the patient's comfort.
For example, in the case of my family member, she insisted on wearing a padded brief once she was able to dress herself. Nurse Leo discussed with her policies...Need...Hygienic standards, etc., along with honoring her insistent request as ultimately that action brought the patient contentment. I know it sounds trivial but it mattered to the patient! Additionally, as a family member staying at overnight at the patient's bedside, I was blown away, thoroughly impressed, with the attention given to my comfort and needs as well as the patient's!
