Hope Langley demonstrated clinical skill, compassionate care, exceptional service, and a commitment to excellence. I would like to share the detailed story about why she is so special.
I had come in for a version attempt at 39 weeks. The version was successful, which was amazing. I proceeded to be induced and wanted to allow the epidural medication to wear off to attempt an unmedicated vaginal delivery. However, once the epidural wore off, we realized that a nerve had been irritated by it and I experienced excruciating pain. Hope was the nurse who came on at night shift amid the worst of my pain, and I was dreading having to explain myself to another nurse while experiencing the worst pain of my life! But, Hope handled things with a confident calm that was reassuring and deeply heartfelt.
After receiving a 2nd epidural, my pain subsided, and Hope proceeded to direct me with confidence and grace that made the labor process possible again. She helped position me in a variety of positions and then prepared me for pushing. When the first push caused my oxygen levels to go down, she did not panic but calmly said we would take a break until the doctor arrived and proceeded to give me oxygen.
After my son was born, Hope continued to give excellent care in helping to clean me up and helping me to recover. She was such an important part of my labor experience that I want her to be recognized for what she is - an excellent nurse!
