It was the day K passed as well as her 46th birthday. Hope knew that K's two boys would be coming up to see her, so she took extra care with K's appearance. Hope put scented lotion on her and fixed her hair. K always wanted to make sure she looked good for visitors and Hope had remembered that and honored her by taking care of her in that way.
Hope had cried. K had touched her life and I know personally that K loved Hope and looked forward to seeing her. Hope showed patience and care, but most importantly, love in caring for K. It was much more than giving her medicine on time and always smiling, always helping out, it was her heart.

A battery of tests confirmed the diagnosis and left me feeling somewhat vulnerable and alone. Through the professionalism shown by Hope and the caring and comfort she freely offered; the days and nights passed with many sweet remembrances. But most of all her tireless explanations of my questions and her extra effort to make sure each and every request, no matter how small was fulfilled.

Hope was a blessing to care for my husband. She explained what was happening, was caring, very friendly and on top of the situation. She made our visit a joy.

Being a physician, I have the advantage to spot a good nurse when I come across one, but it is not only mine but my extended family's opinion that compels me to recognize Hope. Instead of an isolated incident, I wish to cite her entire interaction with my mother during her stay at MFSH. My mother does not speak English, a scary prospect for a patient in an acute care system, but Hope and my mother communicated just fine, compassion has no language barrier and Hope is proof!
