"In a recent emergent case, where the patient did not make it, Holly went well above and beyond in her caring for this patient and her family. I am sure the family was comforted by her service and care during the crisis and afterwards. She is always an extremely compassionate person and sincerely cares for her patients. Her caring manner and positive attitude, as well as her smile are a comfort to many patients on a daily basis. I would trust her completely to care for any of my own family members. It is a pleasure to work with Holly."

"As someone who advocates for her patients, every patient, every time, Holly truly exemplifies the qualities of a DAISY nurse. I have countless examples of this. Most recently, Holly spent about an hour with a Spanish speaking family utilizing the language line to go through discharge instructions, explaining the physiology of wheezing/asthma and how the medications work, so that the family may understand how and when to use their medications appropriately. The recent comments forwarded from a family member of one of our patients only confirm what we at the South Emergency Department know about Holly compassion is one of her most outstanding features. That she would search the obituaries and appear at a "Celebration of Life" ceremony for one of her patients exemplifies how she puts into action what others only speak in words. She is very well deserving of this award."

"Holly is exceptional in her interactions with families and staff. She goes above and beyond to meet all needs of her patients and their families. She is patient with frightened children and works closely to diminish their fears of being in the hospital. Holly has expressed to me that working with children at Children's Mercy 'nurtures her,' and in return, the children she cares for get the best Children's Mercy has to offer. She is a dedicated nurse, and we are fortunate to have her as a member of the Children's Mercy family."

"Holly was amazing during a death we had in the Emergency Department. Words cannot describe how great she was with the family, sitting with them and comforting them during and after the code. She genuinely feels the emotions she displays, even attending this child's funeral and offering support to a family that she didn't even know until their hour of need. This exemplifies being a superb nurse, and we all can learn from Holly's example."

"I have worked with Holly for over three years. In this time, she has proven to be the most caring and helpful nurse. Holly goes out of her way to help her coworkers while keeping a wonderful and positive attitude, no matter how chaotic things get. Her best attribute is the special attention that she gives to every patient and family she meets. Holly patiently and considerately provides education to every family, despite how busy she may be. No care or detail is ever missed when Holly is the nurse. I truly believe every nurse should aspire to be as caring and helpful as Holly Godshall."

"Holly Godshall is well known for her compassionate care and dedication to nursing. This is a note received from a grateful family, 'I am sure you already know what amazingly awesome nurses there are at Children's Mercy, but I just want to share a quick line to let you know how incredibly awesome they are! My niece was brought in by ambulance Sunday night/Monday morning. She passed on the way to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, the nurses and doctors worked on her for quite some time trying to get her back, but their efforts were not successful. The nurse that worked with my niece and my sister is an angel on earth. She was so incredibly sweet and comforting to my sister. I can't even put it in to words. Then to take her awesomeness to another level, she came to my niece's Celebration of Life Service! When she came in and my sister saw her, my sister went to her and just wept in her loving arms. She just held my sister and let her weep. I was so touched by this gesture. My dad asked her how she knew about the service, she responded, 'I've been watching the obituaries. I wanted to be here for her.' Words cannot express the gratitude I have for this sweet, caring, compassionate lady!'
