Holly, along with Honoree Sarah Claypoole, demonstrated service, patient-first, and teamwork when they were confronted with a patient that wanted to sign out AMA. This patient had come in because of possible CVA symptoms and needed testing to rule the diagnosis out. The patient wanted to sign out before testing was complete because she was worried about the fact that no one would be able to take care of her cats while she was in the hospital. The direct care RN, Sarah, talked to Holly, who was the Charge Nurse that day, and the two decided to go to the patient's house to feed the cats. Sarah and Holly went to the store after work and purchased the cat food with their own money and proceeded to the patients house. Since the cats were kept outside, the two entered the yard and were able to put out food and water for the patient's pets. Due to their selfless act, the patient agreed to stay in the hospital and have her testing completed.
