Heather is an extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and empathetic individual. However, as a nurse, her most influential trait is her ability to advocate for her patients. Heather Champions Excellence by arriving early to work every day, not only to investigate her patients' current hospitalization, but also previous admissions, so she can provide and advocate for their best care.
She Owns the Moment by politely, compassionately, supportively, and realistically communicating with patients and their loved ones in extremely difficult times, whether she is educating about a new diagnosis or medication or having crucial conversations regarding overall prognosis. Patient advocacy always remains her top priority.
Heather has a great relationship with fellow coworkers and providers, always having the patient's best interest at heart. She routinely Seizes Opportunities to diligently convey this to the rest of the care team - making her an exemplary "behind the scenes" care coordinator.
Heather Fosters Unity amongst UPH staff to ensure better outcomes for her patients and their families, going above and beyond to ensure all needs are being met to benefit her patients. She is frequently is in touch with outside resources to develop a cohesive care plan to set the patient up for a successful recovery.
Not only is Heather a well-versed, knowledgeable, and compassionate nurse when caring for critically ill, complex patients, she is the glue that keeps our unit one. She recognizes strong communication and teamwork skills are imperative and she Champions Excellence in these categories.
Heather always welcomes new employees, is a phenomenal resource, and always responds with a smile and positive attitude. No request is ever too big or too small for her.
