We came in for a Pitocin induction, and yet I had my heart set on delivery without pain meds. I was scared and heard so many discouraging stories of other mom's induced with Pitocin. Heather listed to my story and wishes and even though she knew my chances were small and it would be really difficult, she chose to believe in me. Throughout the day, she could have monitored me from the nursing station, but she took the time to really build rapport and trust with me and my support team.
Things did get really tough and I lost my confidence and got discouraged several times. Heather gave suggestions on positions and techniques to try that really helped but most importantly, she got down on my level, looked me in the eye and told me I could do this. She told me how great I was doing and made me believe in myself again. When someone with her experience, who really knows, said that to me. I believed it gave me the boost of confidence I needed to push through the end.
We managed to have a natural delivery even with Pitocin. Thanks in great part to my support team and Heather was a huge part of that. Thank you, Heather, for helping me bring my daughter into the world in such an empowering way.
